Malaysia Chocolate Fair 2010 Review

For details of the event, see here.

If you are looking at some established names, you will be disappointed.

But if you are looking at some unknown and up and coming chocolate manufacturers, then this is the place for you!!

Here, you can find many small manufacturers, as well as some new brands, including one notable brand, Sladoff from Russia.

And there are also cosmetics and skin care products made from cocoa extracts on sale too!

But Butter Girl said the moisturizer is too oily.

You can buy a lot of chocolates from different names but the price are no where at the "very cheap" level. If you are merely there to "ke poh", then there are many samples for you to test, what is better than looking and eating for free at the same time?

But you cannot buy Sladoff, funnily, because they are merely here to inform us of them coming to invade our shore next month. But no, they are not selling you chocs at introductory price. Which i cannot understand. What's the point of putting up all the beautiful chocolates if you are not selling? Nevertheless you can still test their products

As for the one of the better known brand, their booth is like this;

But pricing wise, not cheap.

There are also some designer chocolates;

But most of the exhibitors are little known brands;

It's a good choco fair by and large, mostly in term of introducing new names. But for bargain hunters, maybe they will be disappointed.

Cheap Original Crocs in Crocs Outlet, Mines

I am sick of all those fake Crocs at pasar malam and "warehouse". They make wearing Crocs no longer cool as those ill-informed people will thinks that i am wearing a fake one too.

But hey, there are actually cheap, original Crocs lying around for all to buy. And for those who wore Crocs, we knew the difference.

There is a Crocs Outlet in Mines Shopping Fair, at 3rd Floor in the New Wing.

For the uninitiated, Outlet means a place where "rejects" or "out of season" or "too old" stocks are sold. Here in this Outlet, choices are plenty though you might not find the range and size that you want. But get this - all Crocs are at 50% discount, and that is very good.

So, if you wanna get a Crocs but not willing to fork the price, get from this place. And it is a good investment, as Crocs is virtually indestructible, though the base (read "rubber") will be flat.

Happy shopping!!!

Elianto Nail Colour at RM 1

I went to Alamandar today, found out Elianto is having a promotion where their selected nail colour is selling at RM 1.

I was so happy and quickly grab one and give it to the SA. Unfortunately, the SA told me that, I have to purchase 2 bottles of the same nail colour to entitle me for the RM 1 promo price.

I was so shocked because the banner there stated that one customer only entitled to a maximum 2 bottles. So, why two?? By the way, I ask the SA there saying that why should I purchase 2 bottles of the same nail colour?

I thought the SA there might doing an another way of promo to boost up their business (as mud boy previously encountered the same situation when he wanna purchase some body shop stuffs). Hence, I leave and headed to The Mines.

At there, the SA in using a very unpleasant manner, told me that, if I purchase one bottle, I will have to pay RM 5 per bottle. If I get two, then it will be RM 1 each.

Wtf, if u wanna do such promotion, y not u state in your banner?? By the way, why bother stating a maximum 2 for each customer?? Indeed, 2 bottle is a must and no such thing as maximum and minimum.

Well, I should not give a fucking damn on it. I am just don't like such dishonest business attitude. Anyway, it is non of my business. I wouldn't affect me much as I am not Elianto user.

For further information on the promotion period and the colour chosen for every particular period, please refer to HERE.

~UPDATE on 29 Nov 09~

Finally, I went Elianto at Jusco Maluri and got my RM 1 nail Colour without any terms and conditions~ I even bought another RM 1 nail colour in brown on the next week by spending RM 1 only.

I guess the precious 2 SA insert their terms and conditions their own. Hope that the same thing won't happen again.

Ettusais

I went to a miniwork shop yesterday..
By Ettusais in Isetan, The Gardens.

In order to make me eligible to attend it, I had to purchase a RM 90 fully redeemable voucher.

When I reached there, I was shocked. I thought it will be conducted in a class just like the normal workshop that I get to know.
( Forgive me, I had never attended to any workshop before... ^^)

The workshop was being conducted in one to one based. I was told by the SA, Sok Yee who lectured me for almost 1 hour, this time they are conducting a mini workshop, different as the previous one.

Throughout the workshop, atleast I learned some make up skill and skin care products from ettusais.

I get to know this product when I purchase the mini set of their nail colour during their 8th anniversary 30% promo. Fall in love with their products immediately after read some info from their websites, blogs and forums.

Something extra:
Their nail colour are GREAT!
Bright and shining in colour, not turning my nail into yellowish colour
although I applied the blood red colour one without using any base coat.)

The door gift of the day are:

*teng teng teng*

Eye Massageing Essence (worth RM 81)

So, how it works?

From Ettusais.sg....

How it Works: Not only does it treat all types of dark circles, both blue (promotes blood circulation) and brown (reduces and lightens pigmentation), the Eye Zone Massaging Essence helps reduce puffiness by enhancing blood circulation and reducing water retention as well. Lightweight yet moisturizing, the texture is ideal for you to massage your eye area to enhance the effect of the essence. Use this every night and banish those dark circles!

I applied it last night before sleep. After massaging for the 3 x up, 3 x down, 6 x all formula, I felt some heat on my eyes and the tidious feel of my eyes gone in minutes!!!
(as I had been busy for studies for days, sleep less than 12 hours in 3 days)
further, the dark eyes circles lessen a bit after a while too!!!

So, for the RM 90 voucher, I purchase a night amulate powder.
What? At night also gotta applied powder?
This is my thought when I 1st time read through this product from several websites and blogs.

How does this powder works?

From Ettusais.sg....

A medicated skincare powder that protects your skin from pimples and roughness all night long. The ultra fine powder particles lock moisture in the skin's keratin layer while smoothening out rough skin. Greet each day with fresh and oh-so-smooth skin!

I just started use it, so, not really willing to give any comments on its effect yet. But from several blogs and forums, I got all positive comments of this product. *applause

What I like the most of this product are,

It's PUFF!!! soft and comfortable~

I planned to change my who skin care line to their product. However, I still have my moisturizer, toner as well as essence and etc havn't finished yet, I decided to give a try on the soup cleanser 1st. I am trying to stop myself form start using it and finished my cleanser 1st.
So, that's all from what I have spent on Ettusais.
Will give more review soon after using it for a period of time.

Movie Review : Gamer

Just who wouldn't love this guy, Gerard Butler. The big guy in 300. The romantic guy in P.S. I Love You. And now, in 2009, he had two very contrasting movies, The Ugly Truth and Gamer to sway over any males and females who were yet to be fan.

Enter Gamer, now showing in cinema.

This movie had a fantastic concept. Making fun of Second Life and Counter Strike, making fun of nerdies, and making fun of technology.

And making them oh-so-real and frightening.

Imagine you will be playing Second Life and Counter Strike, controlling them like how you do now.

Only, they are real people, and if they die, they die, for real.

Gerard Butler (Tilman/Kable) is a death row inmate, became a character in Slayer (a game ala Counter Strike) to win his freedom, or rather, forced to be a puppet in the game. The rule is that, if he remain undead for 30 matches, he will get his freedom.

And the movie shift to some arguments whether this is appropriate, the way human can be controlled like a puppet. Some big philosophical speeches thrown around. Human no longer had interpersonal interaction. Battles between computer experts and hackers.

All these make a big promise for the movie to be great. I can't sit still, squirming with anticipation. How will this end? Is this another The Matrix (the first one) in making?

But alas, it falls short. Really short.

Not wanting to ruin it for you, suffice to say, the director chose the easy path to end the story.

So disappointing, i felt cheated.

But at least, Gerard Butler made another great effort.
Verdict

Story line : So promising...so promising....

Acting : We only get to see Gerard Butler from the start till the end. Other people are all inconsequential

Fun Factor : I had great fun, until the stupid ending

Value for money : Worth it, even if the ending sucks

Overall : Another great effort screwed, this could have been a great movie. If only they had more foresight, more creativity.

Movie Review : Vengeance 复仇 by Johnny To

Why i specify Johnny To? Because apparently the name Vengeance had been claimed by many movies.

Many big names is the Cantonese movie world are in this film, most notably my favorite Anthony Wong, and this film also had Simon Yam as the big bad guy.

And yeah, it has Johnny Hallyday as the French-hired-hand-turned-chef.

It goes like this. Hallyday's character, Costello's daughter had her family slaughtered in Macau. Alone, he went there and got a request for revenge by the barely surviving daughter. In Macau, he met a trio of hired killer led my Anthony Wong's character Kwai and seek their help. One thing led to another and there is a big twist at the end of the movie.

And i would say there are two finale here, both very climatic.

And this movie also gives some big laughs.

As this story revolves around these killers, bullets run freely. Blood flows. And bad people seems normal, as they had families to support too.

And guess what, there are killer's ethics too.

When i first watch this movie, it almost seems to run a singular story line, another forgetable movie.

I still felt that way.

But the acting is good, and for some people, this movie got them thinking, and its not about "when memory is lost, will there be vengeance?" thingy.

It will get you thinking, hey, don't those cool blooded killers just the same as us?

But in the end, this movie is destined to be forgotten, and maybe the only respite will be from some awards that this kind of movie usually will get.

Verdict

Story line : Not really thick, easy to understand, but still, its decent

Acting : With all the veterans, this can be a tutorial of how acting is done for the young actors

Fun factor : Had a good time. Decent entertainment

Value for moeny : It depends. What kind of movie that suit your taste?

Overall : You see, this is an art house type of movie. Everything is seemingly slow and directionless. But they had direction. Not everyone's cup of tea, but seriously, watch it first.

Movie Review : I Love You, Beth Cooper

This is a teen movie, this is. Nevermind if they reuse and recycle the old cliche of nerdie-scoring-the-hot-chick-girl-just wanna-have-fun-then-found-that-the-hot-hunk-is-a-bad-idea-and-settle-for-the-goodie-two-shoes.

This movie will give you a good laugh, which is why you wanna pay RM 10 in the first place. And they got Heroes's cheerleader Hayden Panettiere in it, just to give it some extra star pull. And God, does she not look good?

More than some good laugh, this movie will, though some punch lines, make joke of the cruel realities like bullies, bulimia, anorexia, boyfriend from hell, etc etc. And oh, how you wish you are back to school again.

And its certainly refreshing for them not to use the stereotypical thin chicks with HUGE boobs as the actress. Instead, they got some girls with fats and all, just like our cheerleader Hayden.

But other than that, this is just another teen movie. Do we really need another one? Should we just leave it to Disney Channel for that?

Hey, everyone need a laugh, and maybe something like this might be good once in a while.
Verdict

Storyline : Forget it

Acting : Just watch Heroes if you really want Hayden

Fun Factor : Good laugh, and that's what everyone need when stress got up their eyeballs

Value for Money : Go watch on Wednesday (movie is cheaper this day), then its ok

Overall : Should you watch? Hmm, if stress is killing you and you got some extra rubbles to burn, this might do for you!

Movie Review : GI Joe : The Rise of the Cobra

This is a funny one, as now its already October, and only now i am talking about this one. Nevermind, forgive me for my lateness.

What do we have here? Oh yea, a lot of bullets flying around, missiles, aircrafts, more bullets, more missiles, power up body suits, mini-one-seater submarine, more bullets, more missiles....

And something called nano weapon, which is basically some metal eating micro robots..

And a lot of ass kicking sword play..

And two hot voluptuous women kicking each other's and countles others ass..

All that makes a great game, whether for PC, PS3, PSP, DS, or XBox. All the ingredient are there - big guns, bigger missiles, and even bigger explosion. Fantastic 3D graphic.

Oh, did i mention those big breasts?

Huh? Movie? What movie?
Verdict

Storyline : Bang bang bang!!!!!!!

Acting : Do looking good, acting cool and big nice breast considered acting?

Fun Factor : Wet dream come true for gaming nerds

Value for money : Maybe seeing some boobs (and no nipples) worth your RM 10

Overall : Why not we just go straight to their game? Hey, when is the game coming up?

Cheap Crocs or Fake Crocs?

Recently, there is a Pesta Konvo (Convocation Festival) going on in UKM. In fact, it just started yesterday, and officially starts today.

There is this one stall that claims to be selling factory outlet Crocs or something like that. And they are selling very cheap, even cheaper than the Crocs factory outlet in Mines Shopping centre. For example, a Malindi cost RM 50 while the normal price is RM 129.

But after Butter Girl tries it, she felt weird. In fact, she felt that it was a highly "reject" level Crocs, or perhaps even a fake!!

The material seems similar though.

Should you try your luck? You decide. We did not buy. Pay a bit extra can get some genuine factory outlet ones in the Mines (will post on this later).

But there is something you can buy though. Its their jibbitz. Those dunno-if-true-or-fake jibbitz are going for RM 10 for 4, which translates to RM 2.50 per piece.

We got a few pieces ourselve and they fit nicely into our genuine Crocs.

So why not rush to UKM and get some jibbitz?

Verdicts
Quality : Shoe - Suspect, Jibbitz - Good

Value for Money : Shoe - if you can keep one eye close?, Jibbitz - Just too Great!

Aesthetic Attributes : Shoe - slightly not looking like Crocs, Jibbitz - Very nice design, absolutely buyable

Overall : Shoe - forget it, Jibbitz - 10 thumbs up!
